We are discussing today the wall street journal article that just came out yesterday and I have to say we are continuously surprised that there’s so much information out there and yet there’s so much misinformation so what are your thoughts on what happened with wall street journal yesterday?
It’s a good article. It’s not what I would think 100% accurate but it is a good layman’s article and I think what I like about it is that it’s finally getting to the point and it feels like you wanna strangle somebody till they get there but they’re finally getting to the point where they understand the importance of the stem cells in the scalp and actually what they’re missing is the actual use of the progenitor cells as to protect the feature now they do talk about vitamin D which is something we’ve been dealing with now we have the hair and the hair follicle that you see here and what’s interesting with it is that over here it is called the dermal papilla and right around it is the follicle and this is the hair shaft itself going off. Now according to the wall street journal article, and was what the research has shown. The vitamin D is important in the of the dermal papilla. The dermal papilla is very important in the hair shaft form without the dermal papilla you are not going to get the reformation of the shaft and remember hair grows in a growing stage and then the resting stage so as mentioned in the article hair will grow three to five years fall out going to a resting stage and then begin growing again. The dermal papilla is very important in that happening now what isn’t clear from the article and what is something we’ve been dealing with is the necessity of the protection of the dermal papilla area in the entire follicle from the levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) because we know that dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the natural enemy to this area. So what they are talking about is how do we keep the dermal papilla working in the face of the dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and what we’re talking about is taking the stem cells which we know genetically have grown inactive and stopped producing progenitor cells we are talking about reestablishing the protection and the natural protection that we all had protecting the dermal papilla in this area from the effects of the dihydrotestosterone (DHT). So what we’re feeling is this. The progenitor cells which we all have in our scalp which are produced from the stem cells and the fatty layer do two things number one necessary to protect these dermal papilla in the hair so at it goes to a resting stage it can grow again and secondly it also acts as a natural protection of levels of DHT so hairs that normally would be miniaturizing are now not miniaturizing because the progenitor cells are protecting them from it. Once the progenitor cells go down then the protection is loss and now we have the effects of the DHT on the follicle. So what are we trying to do? We are preventing or we are working to prevent the effects from happening. What the Vitamin D does is once the effects are happening it strengthens the dermal papilla or strengthens the resistance to it. So what this tells us this is something that we’ve been looking at is the combination of using the ACell with the Platelet Rich Plasma which increases the progenitor cells and increases the protection might be terrific to use with Vitamin D because if the Vitamin D can take hairs that are been weakened and normally no matter what we try to do to protect them can survive the user to Vitamin D may give us a much higher survival of the miniaturizing hairs once they put a protection has been reestablished with the progenitor cells and that’s what we’re looking to accomplish so to me it’s a win-win situation the combination and that is actually what we have been moving towards combining I was very pleased that the wall street journal recognize the necessity of the stem cells they didn’t go as far as explaining the progenitor cells of which they had this is what I am trying to explain here.
Yeah I think that we every day in our practice continuously educate people that what we’re looking at is DHT being the enemy by fighting against the follicle and that the ACell-PRP combination that we’re doing as being the wall that protects the hair from the enemy and with Vitamin D we have an opportunity to further strengthen that wall so that the enemy being DHT It doesn’t do what it’s doing which is thinning the hair. You know I thought was also interesting given how good our results are with ACell and PRP and whether we are doing it for transplants whether we are doing it for thinning hair in both men and women and we have so many before and after pictures. Can you believe the skepticism? And between the I think there is so much just disbelief that it’s kind of for us it’s that it’s kind of funny we’re seeing we’re hearing about several of our colleagues who I think this is an election year so there’s a whole lot of flip flopping going on. Sometimes they say they believe in it others times their saying they’re not believing in it. What do you think is going on? You have been working in the hair field for a short few decades. What are your thoughts?
Well I think that I try to compare if you have a cut on your arm and somebody gives you a band aid to put on your arm and you’re sweaty and you don’t wipe the sweat off around the cut and you don’t clean the area you just take the band aid and just stick it on top of the cut and the bandage falls right off. And you go my God this is a terrible band aid this doesn’t work this is stupid but then someone else goes and they clean the area they may shave a little bit of hair around it they may put extra adhesive there and put the band aid over it and they go this is great this is a wonderful band aid. So what we’re talking about is not just the product. We’re talking about the way it’s applied and the problem is people who is it’s amazing how I’ve had virtually two or three people actually have come to learn how to do this thing correctly instead they just read they think they can guess it they do it it doesn’t work and my God it must be the product the same like the band aid.
You know something what I want everyone to be aware of is ACell currently as reusing as the FDA clearance in the United States. Dr. Hitzig has been doing this since await and he was the first hair restoration specialist to do it so. I think there are a few colleagues who are calling themselves pioneers. Their pioneers after Dr. Hitzig taught them so that’s one thing but the more people learn about it the right way the better it is so that at least I can duplicate some of these results. And another thing we’re seeing is a lot of misinformation about other types of stem cells. We’re getting international physicians contacting us and telling us about stem cells research they’re doing and implications has come to us who said that that like when they went to a one place like one place in India they were offering them stem cells and they told them it was derived from green apples. So we can understand that there’s a lot of confusion and for us it is pretty frustrating because we actually have something that’s really exceptional and works really, really well but when I take the perspective of the consumer and I look online at the claims about hair loss treatments. It’s overwhelming and it’s crazy so I think that we should just keep educating.
I think so I mean you see other processes and all the products you don’t want to end in that you can buy a million different products that are going to cure your hair loss and it’s just amazing and because of that because of this quack mire and this labyrinth of all these things when something else comes out even if it has FDA substation and it has good background papers and good substation to it gets easily diluted into the quack mire of quack cures that are out there. So once again just like the band aid if people are not gonna apply it because they’re gonna say bad things because the band aid didn’t work then. Let’s see what happens if they take a few people that have learned how to do it you see they see similar results. Wow what a surprise.
So I think that anyone who is viewing this can take away a message. If you go to the internet and you see phrases like ACell doesn’t work or I don’t believe it or something like that it’s not ACell on it’s own It’s really the system and processes that Dr. Hitzig and I have worked on and developed to maximize the benefit from the combination of the right concentration the right volume the right technique of activating the platelet rich plasma . They’re all in these little things it’s almost comparable I guess to cooking in some ways and then in the way we actually deliver the treatment. So we are consistently seeing excellent results so as an update you can be sure that our technique of our ACell and PRP continues to show real benefits and real results and I think that’s part of the take home message here is if someone watching this video is has questions by all means contact us you know if I may be as so bold to say don’t waste your time going on forums and asking other people who don’t know any more than you do. We as educators are happy to share our information and discuss the concerns that people have. And to help make the distinction you need to understand what your options are.
And I think also the idea of we’re busy debating things and we’re going back and forth with a little bit of sour grapes and throwing rocks we’re moving ahead. By the time I publish a paper of studies in different studies that I’ve done we’re already three levels ahead of that and the reason is because what we’ve simply done is we’ve moved on it takes time for the papers to be published. We’re moving on. We’re looking for the next step the next thing that’s gonna help and you know it’s not a contest of Vitamin D VS ACell VS this VS that It’s the combination that can work in synergistic fashion It’s the synergy of it that’s gonna help. If the ACell and the PRP helps by reestablishing the protection against the DHT and we’re trying to rescue whatever hairs that’s been strangled or miniaturize well if we have something that can build up the strength of those miniaturizing hair which is the Vitamin D injectable D3 actually and that can strengthen the derma papilla well the then ACell and PRP stands a much better chance of rescuing those hairs remember just because you’re strengthening the hair you’re strengthening the derma papilla if you don’t take the enemy away or protect the person against the enemy then the enemy will once again triumph and come back so all you’re doing is giving it a temporary rest pit it doesn’t make sense unless you build up with you using something like a Propecia to cut an enemy down or in our case build up a fork build up with a progenitor cells. What we’re doing with the ACell is bringing back adult stem cells and turning them into progenitor cells we are reestablishing your own progenitor cells your lead shield is coming back in we are protecting you and what is the vitamin D3 gonna do it’s gonna take those hairs that are so weakened and increase the chance of those surviving and being revived.
And as we always say when it comes to hair greed is good and every follicle is gold so what we would like to encourage anyone watching this video naturally you’re gonna have questions and what we want is to hear what is our there what your questions are so we invite you to post a video response you can go to our website www.NYHairLoss.com and you could actually record a question you. You can contact us through our contact forms as well as though the comments if you’re watching this on YouTube so we want to keep this conversation going particular if you see something on doctor ask or the doctors or any other talk show, which generally has a lot of interesting and new technology. Please by all means ask us and we’ll do our best to answer your questions.
Throughout the years and there’s a lot of them that has been doing this. I have learned from patients as well and so the idea is the ways that I have moved ahead is from my patients and from the feedback. So if you have ideas that have worked with this and they make sense. I’m always willing to listen. I’m always willing to discuss and that’s how we work together to advance it you are out there and you may have access to some information that would be beneficial for everybody please feel free to share it we’ll discuss it and we’ll see what we can do with it so thank you very much.

Does it last? “At this point, we haven’t had to repeat a treatment for 2 years. We treat our clients on an individual basis and customize their treatments. Keeping your hair from thinning further is in itself a success. Call it a ‘vaccine’ against hair loss.” explains Dr. Hitzig.
